The varnish I coated this etrange beaute finally dried and the weather finally cooperated- so it was time for a (halfway) professional photo shoot-
“Fertile Form II”- Original sculpture by MJ Seal. Paper ephemera, old paintings, wood ashes, PVA glue and acrylic paint, 27” x 26” x 6”. C. 2020Since colors were laid on in thin glazes over a bright ground they literally glow. The peculiar, glistening center 🤨Carefully painting in these delicate transitions took forever- but I think the results were well worth the trouble. The waves of acid green to deep magenta create an intense visual buzz.
And note: the colors are not exaggerated in this pics.
It almost looks like it is physically spreading out from the center in slow motion.
With its unfurling fronds, glossy coating and brilliant coloration this piece really looks alive – and from another planet 🛸
Les couleurs sont lumineuses!!! 8)
