Initial sculpting on this- the most time consuming art project I’ve ever worked on- is done. Now to let this piece cure for a bit and it will be ready fur its skin of paint.
I can get such interesting texture with the paper mache clay- these vein like structures support a “frond” of this large lichen-like form.
This is a beautifully detailed piece and I love how organic it feels. It reminds me of the mineral desert rose and a real flower at the same time, but has an ancient quality to it.

Thanx! It will look really alive once painted – I’m thinking a deep emerald green for the outer leaves- a warmer Kelly green for the inner ones and tinges of fuchsia around the edges of all of them.
