“Encrustation” is finally finished-

After hours upon hours of obsessively sculpting and cementing primitive looking sea forms crafted from junk mail and ephemera I’ve created a very complex paper mache reef.
The taller sea sponge like forms really make this piece pop off the wall. 
And like a coral reef there is so much pattern and texture there is nowhere for the eye to rest- everything seems to be exploding with life- or was. The monochromatic light gray coloration gives it a ghostly presence- like some perfectly preserved fossil of long forgotten marine creatures.
