In January clumps of moss gleam on the forest floor like verdant tropical islands on a dull gray sea-
Up close the astounding variety of shapes and colors of the mosses festooning every little rock and twig resemble miniature jungles-
The edge of a rainforest-
Above a forest of tree ferns-
Ive always been fascinated by mosses and lichens and with my hawk eyes I find it very easy to peer into their macroscopic world. The camera on my new phone makes it very easy to show others what I see 😊
A grove of primitive conifers-
Alpine forests and meadows-
Cliff dwellers
Aerial views of forests and grasslands
Above the canopy of some truly peculiar jungles
A cave entrance festooned with vines-
Don’t forget about the little things

How lush it is, seen up close

It really is like a miniature jungle- and quite a change from how the rest of the forest looks.
