After applying a bit more paper mache clay “First of Spring” is ready for it’s skin of paint-
After completely coating this piece in a thin layer of paper mache paste I added a second layer and peeled it back around the bases of the spikes growing up from the underlying canvas giving them the appearance of poking through a skin.
I also applied a layer to the sides and back of the pasted over canvas to hold everything together like a protective shell.
